The Beijing-based National Opera of China will present a night of Western classical opera selections and Chinese folk songs for local music lovers. Accompanied by the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, the show features eight stunning sopranos — Yao Hong, Ma Mei, Liu Hongling, Wang Wei, You Hongfei, Liu Shan, Shen Na and Ruan Yuqun. Yu Feng, the musical director of the opera house, will wield the baton. Tenors Wang Feng and Li Shuang will also perform.
The repertoire will include famous pieces from Verdi's "I Vespri Siciliani," "La Dame aux Camelias" and "La Forza del Destino;" Gounod's "Romeo et Juliette," Puccini's "La Boheme," "Tosca," "Madama Butterfly" and "Turandot;" Bizet's "Carmen," Mozart's "Don Juan" and Dvorak's "Rusalka."
