Symphony Hall
Covering a total area of 2,323 square meters, the Symphony Hall is a rare concert hall which provides pure natural acoustics and possesses a comparatively large scale in China. The canyon-terraced hall with the island-shaped stage in the middle makes it suitable for symphony music performance. The stage covers 251 square meters with the height of 0.81 meters. The width of the stage door is 21 meters and the depth is 16 meters.
The stage can hold a symphony orchestra of four-barrel establishment and a mixed chorus of 200 people to perform together. The performing platform is composed of a fixed stage and 36 elevator platens. The stage can be lifted and lowered to different heights according to the requirements of the orchestra for the position of various kinds of instrument facilities. It can be lifted to an utmost height of 2.2 meters, which fully meets the needs for orchestra's step performance at different levels and the arrangement needs of the big chorus.
There are 1,680 seats in the Symphony Hall. The row distance is 1.05 meters, which is wide and comfortable. What is more, the distance between the rows of VIP seats is as wide as 1.3 meters, which is rarely seen around the world. With these human-oriented designs in every detail, the audiences are physically and mentally relaxed while enjoying the performance.
The architectural acoustics is designed by Toyota Nagata Acoustics; the reverberation time is designed as 1.8－2.0 seconds. Every auditorium area is surrounded by slope reflection wall boards, which cooperate with the sound reflection board on the top to achieve a perfect natural sound effect. The Symphony Hall mainly focuses on original sound, but an auxiliary electric audio system is specially designed by famous international professionals for sound amplification to meet the needs of other types of performances.
The pipe organ in the Symphony hall is one of the few large organs in China and also the one and only pipe organ in Shenzhen. This organ was made-to-order for Shenzhen Concert Hall by Austrian Riegel Pipe Organ Factory which has 150 years history. The organ body altogether has 86 stops and 6,432 pieces.
Golden Tree Foyer
The Golden Tree Foyer is at the major entrance of the Symphony Hall which covers 1,600 square meters. The audience can have a break in this area during the intermission.
Additionally, the hall can also be used to hold activities such as exhibitions and press conferences for new products launch. The top of the hall is polyhedral which is composed of triangle glass surfaces in different sizes. Five golden tree pillars hold up the roof. These golden branches make the whole foyer brilliant especially when sunshine goes through the hall.
An overline bridge joins the Golden Tree Foyer with the Silver Tree Foyer in the neighboring Shenzhen Library through which the beauty of the both architectures is enhanced.
